Walk Difficulty...

There is no standard way to classify hill walks. The usual terminology of 'easy', 'moderate' and 'strenuous' though widely used are interpreted differently in the literature and often without definition. To help you select a walk I have graded my walks with the following definitions in mind.

Easy:

Less than 8km (5miles) on paths for the most part with a little rough ground and less than 100m (330 feet) of height gain.

Moderate:

Under 11km (7 miles) on easily followed tracks and less than 300m (1000 feet) of ascent.

Strenuous:

More than 11km (7 miles) but less than 16 km (10 miles) with 300 to 450m (1000 to 1500 feet) of ascent.

Challenging:

More than 16 km (10 miles) but less than 20km (13miles) and/or with 450 to 600m (1500 to 2000 feet) of ascent.

When you look at these walks please consider your fitness level and evaluate your physical ability to cope with these distances and height gains. We will typically walk at about 3km/h (2miles/hour) with short breaks and with opportunities to take photographs and take-in the wonderful scenery. Go to PRICES AND SCHEDULE to see the dates for each walk. None of the dates suitable? Get in touch. Minimum of two persons.
