Joining a walk...

At the beginning of each walk description there is an outline map. Simply meet me at the start of the walk. Or if you prefer you can meet me at either Wooler Car Park or Rothbury Car Park with the exception of Walk 2. You can then follow me to the start of the walk. Thus:

Walk 1 Rock Art Tour For this walk it is best to meet me at the free car park at Padgepool Place in Wooler. We can set out in procession from there to the first site which is approximately 5 miles away.

Walk 2 Breamish Valley. Meet at Ingram Car Park

 Follow signs from the A697 to Ingram. After about 3 miles you’ll cross a bridge over the River Breamish. The car park is clearly visible on the left after crossing the bridge.

Walk 3 Northern Cheviots. Meet by the red telephone box in Humbleton Village just outside Wooler.

Walk 4 College Valley. Meet at Hethpool Car Park which is at the head of the College Valley some 7 miles from Wooler. Leave Wooler heading north towards Coldstream. Look out for a left turn to Kirknewton on the B6351 when you reach the hamlet of Akeld. Just after you cross the College Burn at Westnewton you’ll see a left turn sign posted Hethpool. Follow this road until you are advised that you can go no further without a permit!! You’ll find the car park on the left.

Alternatively, you may meet me in the car park at Wooler and follow me to the start of the walk.

Walk 5 Upper Coquetdale. Meet me at the free car park at Wedder Leap just before you get to Barrow Burn. After passing through Rothbury, Thropton and Alwinton follow the same road for about another 5 miles .The car park is clearly signed on your left just before the Barrow Burn Tea Room.

Alternatively, you may meet me in the car park at Rothbury and follow me to the start of the walk.

Walk 6 Harthope Valley. For this walk it is also best to meet me at the free car park at Padgepool Place in Wooler. We can set out in procession from there to the start of the walk near Langleeford in the Harthope Valley some 7 miles away.

Every walk listed in PRICES AND SCHEDULE has a start time. Please arrive 15 minutes before the specified time.
